Dearborn Animal Hospital has an important prescription policy update that will take effect on 5/29/23. Please read the details below thoroughly to see if this change affects you.
Effective 5/29/23, Dearborn Animal Hospital will no longer work with pharmacies that require us to communicate via fax. We will only accept requests from the following three online pharmacies: Dearborn’s Online Pharmacy (Vet’s First Choice - our preferred option, as product guarantees are still honored by manufacturers), Chewy, and 1-800-Pet-Meds. These online pharmacies provide us with an opportunity to better serve our clients with a quicker and more efficient prescription approval process by minimizing redundant work for our staff.
If you’d like to work with a different online pharmacy, a written prescription can be picked up at our front desk - we will not mail or email these legal documents. Please give our staff 48 hours notice for this service.
We understand that this change may not be convenient for all of our clients, however, we hope this will allow us to more efficiently fill prescriptions for our patients.
Additionally, due to new FDA guidelines, some compounded medications will no longer be stocked at Dearborn Animal Hospital. The FDA is still in the process of determining which of these medications will be affected. If your medication is included, your doctor will provide you a prescription and the medication will be sent to you directly, rather than stocked at our facility.
Thank you for your understanding, as we work to provide the best service to all of our clients.
